To Every Woman 45+ Who’s Been Made Redundant and Feels Lost…

A guide to rediscovering your power, rebuilding your identity, and stepping boldly into digital opportunity.

By Lisa Beauchamp

This time last year, November 2024, I was content in my job, in fact, I loved it. I had worked for the same boss for 30 years and felt untouchable in my successful career.

But at the same time, I was witnessing the heartbreaking decline of my beloved Dad, who was rapidly losing his battle with pancreatic cancer.

Fast forward one year: I now own my own online business while caring for my 86-year-old mother. Becoming my own boss was never something I imagined. Throughout my entire career, I had always been an employee and that suited me just fine.

Then, at 57, I was made redundant. Suddenly, I was painfully aware of the employment barriers and the harsh perceptions that people my age face:

“You’re past it. Too old. Not relevant anymore.”

But, thankfully, here’s what I discovered: I am not “over the hill.”

In fact, I am at the peak of my power. And you are too.

Why?

  • You’ve spent the last four or five decades building resilience, wisdom, and problem-solving skills, and all of that experience is your power now.
  • You’re calm under pressure, loyal, dependable, and wise.
  • And contrary to the stereotype, yes, you CAN learn new skills. You’ve been learning all your life.

The world had already moved online, and I realised it was my moment to do the same.

After decades of working for someone else, I finally had the chance to take control, embrace the possibilities, and build something that was entirely my own.

So I turned to digital marketing, not because I was an expert (quite the opposite!), but because I knew my skills in communication, storytelling, strategy, people were transferable online.

That’s an undeniably huge advantage.

To the women sitting there thinking, “But I don’t know where to start…”

I can tell you where to start!

Start small. Inform yourself. Take the first step and meet John, whose expertise and perspective helped me understand the freedom, flexibility, and opportunity that come with owning an online business.

I’m now part of a driven community of like-minded, ambitious go-getters and aspiring entrepreneurs. We collaborate, support one another, brainstorm big ideas, and push each other to grow. Together, we’re building success, not just for ourselves, but for each other.

Believe me when I tell you: You are not too old to build your own business online.

After years of working as a corporate manager – leading a team, delegating tasks, and driving results – I’m now fully responsible for myself: my work, my income, and best of all, I get to keep the profits. I went from following company policies and reporting to a boss and HR director, to owning every part of my success. It’s a big shift, but it’s also incredibly liberating.

If redundancy has kicked you down or blindsided you or upended your world, then pick yourself up; you are more than capable of stepping into something new, meaningful, and entirely your own.

Or, if you just feel the pull to make a change, trust it.

You’re not “over the hill”, and you’re certainly not finished. What others overlook is exactly what gives you an edge.

If you’re ready to explore what’s possible and discover how you can start your own online business, GoReinvent offers the tools, guidance, and support to help you succeed every step of the way.

Take that first step, you might be closer to a new beginning than you think.
